"Now that you have got your clay on center you can go ahead and take your right hand with that moist sponge. Make a fist and just kind of dive down into the center using your left hand as a stabilizer to keep that clay on center and once you've got just a divot there you can take your left index finger and push down and pull out. Now remember this is going to be a bowl and we want it to be a smooth mixing bowl with a smooth pour. So you do want it to have a even curve. You don't want to make the bottom of this piece flat. So make kind of contact lens shaped beginning take your needle tool. Stick it in the center to check and see how deep it is. It will leave a little smudge on your needle too so that you can see how deep that piece of clay is. You want about a quarter of a inch maybe a little bit more. But not significantly in either direction of that. So now I have got the base for my batter bowl and I am ready to start pulling it."
