We are counting 4 beats per measure, a quarter note would sound like this; 1, 2, 3, 4 and you could play different pitches. You could go 1, 2, 3, 4. You could 1, 2, 3, 4 but they are all quarter notes that are even. A half note would be equal to 2 beat. Half note also known as 1, 2, 3, 4. You go 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2. Those are half notes. We could add half notes and quarter notes together. Quarter, quarter, quarter, half notes, half notes, half note, quarter, quarter, quarter, half note. They are all good. Let''s try a whole note. A whole note equals 4 beats; 1, 2, 3, 4, 1,2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4. They are easy because they are so slow. You go whole note, 3, 4, half note, half note, quarter, quarter, 1, 2, 3, 4 so there is infinite combinations of all those note values. As long as you keep counting 4 beats per measure, they all should work out. "
