" Hello I am Erica Lane and I am with Expert Village. I am going to talk about how to train the female voice. I am going to talk about matching pitch. Matching pitch is very very important and vital for singing correctly. For example if I am going to match a pitch, so I want to match the note E, if I sing this note… I am not matching pitch. It is obvious to most listeners that I am not singing the correct note… So if I have problems matching the pitch and I cannot find it on my own, then what I need to do is use the siren method. I call it the siren method because you scoop your way up to finding the pitch or you scoop your way down to finding the pitch, so if the pitch is way up here and I am singing down here… which happens with a lot of new students that I see, what I tell them to do is to climb up with their voice like a siren until they find the note… Okay so I found the pitch. The same thing applies if you are singing too high and the note is lower. Here is the pitch that I am supposed to sing... here is the pitch I am singing. I am actually singing an octave higher so what I need to do is use the siren method and reverse and go all the way down till I find the note and I found the note and that is my favorite way to find pitch and able to match it, especially for new beginning students, you really need to work on your training. That is the basic way to begin steps to finding your pitch. "

on 8/2/2008 The "siren" method is also an excellent way of opening up the student's voice - you know, show them the range of what their voice can really do, and they'd be surprised and amazed.
