Vocal training exercises prepare the singer’s voice. These exercises are often used before a performance or practice event in which a singer will be singing for an extended amount of time. Often, actors will perform vocal warm-up exercises to prepare the voice-box for long scenes as well. These exercises focus on changing pitch within the voice. The purpose of this is to stretch the muscles used for singing and to prepare the body for controlled release of musical notes. Much in the way that a runner would stretch before a marathon, a singer must prepare the muscles in the throat and mouth in order to sustain a certain pitch or note while singing.

" Hello I am Erica Lane and I am with Expert Village and I am going to talk about how to train the female voice. Whenever you are singing you need to stand with correct posture. If you are slumped over or if your shoulders are slumpy or to the front then it is not going to work mainly because it is going to cut off your air supply, so always think good posture first. You are going to stand straight up, your head is going to be up and you need to make sure that your vertebrae, your back is straight and then you need to make sure that you relax your shoulders that they are down and that they are not shrugged like this. Just relax your shoulders, keep your head straight up and the last thing that you need to know after you make sure that you have a straight back is that you tuck your hips under but do not let that affect the rest of your body. Make sure that your hips are tucked under but that the rest of you is still straight especially your spine. It is very important to know, as long as your hips are tucked under then your spine is completely straight and you have the most cavity of air open and you are ready to sing and your diaphragm is in the best shape that it can be.
