"When you are shooting a toddler, you have a whole different set of circumstances. Not only are they crawling, but they are usually walking, and occasionally running from you. While those can make great pictures, you sometimes want to get a nice portrait. So, what I like to do with a toddler, is ground them on something. Give them something to sit on, kind of their spot. It usually makes it a lot easier. And I will give them interesting props or toys that might work well in the picture. I have a little boy, and he loves this fire truck. I put this fire truck in one of the pictures and he played for hours and I got the most amazing pictures of him, just while he was sort of in his own world. So, props like the fire truck, or a ball, or if it's a little girl, her favorite doll or other toys are great if you are shooting toddlers. Something else to think about with toddlers, is you can really coax interesting reactions out of them, they become more interactive. So you can play games with them or ask them questions. Or surprise them with things, which is fantastic for a little person. They really start to come alive in the pictures. "
