"When you are shooting an infant and by that I mean a child that has started to progress, maybe the three- three to six or nine months stage and they are not quiet mobile yet but they can sit up on their own or they are really good at lifting their head or looking up in the camera. Some things that I like to do as again usually they are shooting their diaper or a cute little onesie or something and I put them again on the either the black background or a nice white background and then you can use like little noise props to get them to look in your direction but you can usually sit them up or maybe bring a big cuddly teddy bear in with them and get their expressions as they are looking at things. The wonderful thing with newborns is you can get them crawling or standing up above them and having them look up over their shoulder. There are a lot of great compositional things that you can like I said you can the great pictures with the newborn, but with the infant they are just a little bit more, there's a few more options that you have with them and you can get some wonderful photographs. Another thing that you can do with a infant is lay them on their stomach. A lot of them are strong enough now that they can push their head up and look up at you and if you are not getting that you might consider putting; parents will know this term a boppy, it is a kind of a rounded pillow underneath them. But it doesn't have to be that, really any kind of pillow will do. If you just take a regular pillow and drape the fabric over it to cover it up and put the baby on it so that the pillow is supporting them. You get them off the floor just a little bit so you can get wonderful pictures of the face and those expressions and hopefully a little bit of drool coming out. They really make great pictures when you have an infant."
