Hi I'm Emily Larew and we're continuing on with our advanced tap foot work. We're going to take a look at now pickups, double and singles. So instead of pulling it backwards like in your pullback, you're going to pick it up straight underneath you. So what you're wanting to is you want to make sure you're plie, you're pushing straight up instead of pushing backwards; o.k. And what I want you to do is I want you to wave hello with your toes. So your little toes are picking up, up and down; up and down, up and down; just flex them and point and push them back in the floor, o.k. So make sure you keep your ankles loose don't tighten them up otherwise you won't get the sounds in there that you need. So as we're doing our doubles remember its two sounds instead of brushing back, brush step. What I want you to do is you're going to push off the floor and tap tap, and when you land tap tap; tap tap, o.k. So don't brush it backwards otherwise you're going to end up doing a pullback, you want to pick it up. So let's try this, we're going to plie; plie tap tap, plie; good. Plie and then let go as you feel nice and good about it. And as you can see I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying right where I need to be. Singles are the exact same thing except your just doing it on the one foot. Make sure you're waving hello with your toes, yes; plie tap, plie tap tap; good. And that was your double and single pickups.
