"Another method with coil building is to coil build on the wheel. This has several advantages. It can get you larger pieces than you would be able to throw if you are not extremely proficient at throwing it. And the coils, because they're all even and consistent, the walls would be nice and even and consistent. And if you're just into coil building, you can get really symmetrical pieces by using the wheel. Now again, like I did with the turntable, the base, you'll just roll a coil until it is the size that you're looking for. But we don't have to smush this with the wooden knife because we are at the wheel, so you can spin the wheel and just push down with your sponge, until that pad is really smooth. You can pull it out to a slightly thinner thickness. And then once you've got it nice and smooth, again take your needle tool, and cut it off so that it is a perfect circle. And then you can start building up the walls, and I'll show you how you can actually throw those walls out as well."
