A really fun method to work with, when working on the wheel, is to intentionally slump and torque your pieces. If you look at this piece right here, this is just going to be a little candle holder, put a little votive cup in the middle, and it has kind of a floral look to it and I like that a lot. And the way that a piece like this is made is just by stretching the clay a little bit too thin, laying it out a little bit too far, and then spinning it really fast, and it causes the torque and the folding. And I'm going to show you how to make a piece just like that, and also how to make a vase where the bottom is very traditional, and the top is torqued and folded over like that. So, for a piece like this, I only need about a pound of clay. So that's just a little bit over a pound, and that'll be just right. Pat that up into a nice ball. And then this chunk that's left over, it's just under two pounds and so I'll make a vase out of this. So now we'll go to the wheel, and I'll show you how this is done.
