"So once you've got some recipes gathered together, you're going to need a couple things before you start making your first glaze. First of all, most importantly, you're going to need a triple beam scale. It's very important with making glazes that all your measurements be very precise. Some of the ingredients that you'll be putting into your glazes, especially the colorants, might be as low as 1/2 a percent of the glaze. So it's incredibly important that you have a triple beam scale. Or a really accurate digital scale, either way. Also for your test glazes you're going to want to use some kind of small bucket. I like to use a little painter's bucket because this is an airtight seal and I can shake this up without the glaze going all over the place. Very important, always wear a dust mask whenever you're measuring out your glazes. You don't want to be breathing in quantities of dust. Especially the silica and other materials that have silica in them. Because over time silica can actually cause toxic silicosis. Which is very bad for you. So wear your dust mask. And then the last thing you're going to need is when you finally get around to making your full size batch you're going to want a large bucket of any kind and then a drill mixer. You're going to need that for when you do your full size batch. But first we're going to do how to test your glazes in the first place."
