Another really good way to achieve interesting results with glaze is to use a sponge to decorate. Now you can take just a regular sponge, or you can actually cut your sponges into shapes that you want to press onto your pot. Here I've got just a normal one. Again, I'm going to stir my glaze before I use it. It's very important. And as I said before, pull up from the bottom when you stir, otherwise your glaze will settle out and you'll get results that you weren't expecting. Get a little bit of glaze on your sponge. Kind of dab it against the side so that you're not going to get glaze dripping down the pot whenever you go to decorate it. And then you can just take your sponge and make some little decorations. And as I said, you can cut out a sponge that has a certain shape. If you want to get triangles all the way around the outside, or if you want to get circles for polka dots, any variety of things. But this is just a little bit different, different technique than brushing. It can give you a little bit of a speckly appearance. I like to have the rim be dark as well. And there you go. There's another technique for making interesting glaze decoration.
