"So now that you've got your clay centered, you're ready to start the form. You want to take your left index finger and push down. Then take your right hand, just it's there to stabilize and squeeze the sponge if you need water. And then you're going to pull your left index finger towards your right hand. Compress the floor. But before you call that done, you want to take your needle tool clean it off. Put it right through the center and it'll leave a smudge that'll tell you how deep that floor is. You want it to be about a quarter of an inch. And once you've got that, the depth that you want it to be, you can take your hard rib, I like to use a hard, metal rib, and compress the floor. That makes it smooth. It also makes it stronger by the compression. And now we've got this pieced opened, and we're ready to start pulling the walls."
