"Okay, looking at this pot, I have decided that it will look a little bit more elegant if the base comes in a little further. And I'm going to show you how to do that; when you've already thrown a form, you can alter it and make it come in a little bit more if you're looking for that elegance. You want to take a very firm rib. I use a metal rib, which is the best way to do it. The wooden ribs are a little thicker, and they're not going to give you quite the cut that you need. So you take this rib, and you want to hold it very firmly, because you're going to be pushing, cutting a little bit out from the bottom. And take that clay away, you don't want that clay. And then you just keep, just like when you collar in with your hands, on either side of the pot, you're doing something very similar, but just with one rib instead of your hands. And you can use your left hand to just make sure the pot doesn't wobble. And then again, like with everything else, undercut it."
