So now that we've got our clay pulled mostly up into a cylinder, you can take your sponge and hold your hand against the inner wall and let the water, just a tiny bit, run down. That gets it nice and lubricated on the inside without over wetting it. Take your hard rib and you want it to be underneath, your right hand underneath your left in this case to give you one last pull to thin that clay out. And as you do that one last pull, think about what shape you might want that luminary to be in and start to rough it in. I mop up whatever little bit of water might have gotten in the bottom from that drip that I did. And then do the final forming here. And once you've got the shape you're looking for, take your rib, hold it against the wheel head at an angle, slide it under that piece to cut off a little bit and give yourself a nice undercut. Take your sponge to clean up any messes you might have made on your piece. Now, another reason for using that rib is we have a nice, dry surface here, comparatively speaking. That makes it easier to take this piece off the wheel. You're going to take your wire tool, hold it against the wheel head and just slide that right under. Dry your hands off a little bit. Gently cup this and tilt it, and you can take it right off the wheel without damaging the form. And now we're going to let that set up so that we can make the cuts.
