"So now that we've got our clay centered, we're ready to go ahead and pull that up. The first step is to take your right hand in a fist and just dive into the center of that clay with your right hand, keeping your left hand on the outside to keep that clay from pushing out too far. And once you've got a little bit of a divot there, you can take your left index finger and push down and pull out. And in this instance, your right hand is being the stabilizer, so you just want to keep that clay in place. And once you've got a floor, you want to check the depth. You can use your needle tool and just stick it right down in the middle of that clay and it'll leave a little smudge on your needle tool that'll show you how deep that clay is. You want it to be about a quarter of an inch, maybe a little bit more. And then you take your hard rib and just gently but firmly compress the bottom of that piece. That makes it stronger and smoother. And now we're ready to pull up the walls."
