"Hi, my name is Alissa with Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to crochet a beanie. Now, I am going to show you how to start off you beanie, using one of these specialty yarns that I talked about earlier. This one is an acrylic blend that has a little kink to it, so it itself is kind of in a spiral. It's just a little bit more difficult to work with because it will be easy to lose your stitches. But I will show you how to make that a little bit easier. We are going to start off with our slip knot, you just cross the yarn over, put your forefinger and your thumb through the loop, and pull it through. And that is your slip knot. Pull it tight. I would recommend making these stitches a little bit looser, because the yarn has so much going on, and it would be easy to lose your stitches. Get a good grip, pull the yarn with your pinky, over your index, and hold it with you middle and thumb. We are going to do our 3 chain stitches to start off our beanie. You are going to want to make these a little bit wider than normal, so that you can keep track of your stitches. So there is our 3 chain stitches. Now we are going to connect it into a loop, so bring this stitch around and put our hook through the stitch and do a single crochet. In front of the yarn, then behind the yarn, and pull it through the first loop. And then the second loop. As you can see, it will be kind of easy to lose your stitches, because the yarn has this spiral to it. Let me show you that one more time. We are going to start with our slip knot, and get a good grip on your yarn. Do our 3 chain stitches. In front of the yarn and behind the yarn, and pull it through. There's 1, there's 2, and there's 3. Then we are going to pull this around in a circle. Put your hook through your very first stitch by your slip knot. In front of the yarn, behind the yarn, pull it through, and pull it through again. So this is what the spiral will start off looking like with this specialty yarn, this acrylic blend textured yarn. "
