"Hi. My name's Elissa with Expert Village and today I'm going to show you how to crochet a beanie. So to start crocheting your beanie the most fundamental stitch you need to learn is a chain stitch. So I'm going to teach you how to make a chain stitch. And, grab hold of your yarn by pulling it with your pinky over your next finger and hold the knot with your middle and thumb. And all you're going to do for the chain stitch is pull your hook in front of the yarn and behind the yarn and pull it through the loop. And that's one chain stitch. Move your fingers up so that you can hold it nice and tight. Okay? I'll show you that again. Put your hook in front of the yarn behind the yarn and pull it through. So that's two chain stitches. And you're going to continue chain stitching until you have a nice link. So put the hood in front of the yarn behind the yarn and pull it through. So this is going to be the foundation of your entire crochet project to learn how to do the chain stitch. So I would recommend practicing the chain stitch and make sure that each one is uniform in size. So, pull the hook in front of the yarn behind the yarn and pull it through. So, this is the chain stitch and once you've mastered this you can start any crochet project. And in the next clip I'll show you how to chain stitch in a spiral in order to start your beanie."
