"Hi my name is Allysa with Expert Village and today I'm going to show you how to crochet a Beanie. Now, I'm going to show you some specialty yarns that you can use to make a different kind of beanie. This beanie right here was made with a then specialty, fussy yarn. It's a very then yarn, so it took a small needle about a 3 or 4 millimeter needle. As you can see I've also been able to do different stitches of a single crochet stitch up here and all the way down to a triple crochet stitch. This'll make a really fun looking beanie and it will have a different texture to it then using so regular yarn. But sometimes it can be a little bit too flimsy for what you need it for. Another kind of specialty yarn is this thin acrylic blend, feathery yarn here. I wouldn't recommend using this for a beanie because, it is so thin. It tends to not keep its shape once you've made the beanie. It tends to stretch out a little bit because the stitches are so small. And it's really difficult to work with. So this kind of thing I would not recommend to make a beanie. But it does make a great scarf. Now these beanies over here are made with a specialty textured acrylic blend. Here's an example of that. They're going to have a little wave to it and they're really thick so this would be a six and a half millimeter needle size. These make great beanies because they are really durable, they have a lot of texture to them and it makes a really thick warm hat for you. These two beanies right here are made with the same yarn with this textured acrylic blend yarn. And those are some specialty yarns that you can use to make your beanie."
