"Hi my name is Elissa with Expert Village and today I'm going to show you how to crochet a beanie. So now I'm going to show you some different kind of yarns that you can use to make your beanie. This is the basic types of yarn that you would find in a craft store. This is going to be a regular acrylic yarn. It is going to be pretty thick so it requires a thick needle make sure that you check your package for the needle size. This is what it is going to look like it is going to have big stitches but it is going to be really easy to work with. So I would recommend this for beginners. This is another kind of acyclic yarn just a different color. So the stitches would be very large, it is going to be very durable and really easy to work with. Another kind of basic yarn is going to be a acyclic blend this is going to be much softer then the 100% acyclic yarns. But they are also going to be a lot thinner which means more stitches and it is going to be a thinner beanie after you make it. You are again going to check your needle size this is going to be about a 3 to a 4 millimeter needle. It is a little difficult to work with because the stitches would be so much smaller. But it is going to make a really soft beanie. Then over here a other basic yarn is 100% cotton yarn. It is not going to be quiet as fuzzy so the stitches would be a lot cleaner looking. But again it would be smaller stitches cause it is so much thinner so it is going to take many more stitches and take a lot longer to make your beanie. This 100% cotton yarn is going to make also a much thinner beanie. So these are some basic yarns that you can use to make your beanie and in the next clip I will be showing you some specialty yarns.
