"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Emily DeCola in Puppet Kitchen in New York City. Today we are going to talk about theatrical masks. So as I mentioned a lot of the masks that I build are of different materials and techniques. For example on this table you would see a selection on different kinds of masks from different shows. Over on the extreme left here actually not a mask, it is a cast of my face. Which is one of the most useful things that a mask designer could have available to them when they are starting a process in creating a mask. You would probably think I know what I look like why do I need a cast of my own face to build a mask onto. You can certainly use a mask of somebody else's face. For example sometimes when I'm building a mask for a show that are very specific it needs to fit very specifically I would make cast with every single mask performers face. So I can build the mask literally directly onto their face or rather on to the plaster cast. "
