In this clip, we will be talking about the third secret to ballroom dance. This secret is called the rocking step. In the rocking step, it consists of two motions, one is replacing, one is stepping and the other is replacing the weight and we can start forward with any foot. If you take one step forward not too big, put all the weight on the foot you stepped with and then replace the weight to the back foot that completes one rock step. Once again, changing weight to the forward front foot and then replacing the weight to the back foot is a rocking step. So if you use the two words of rock step, you can illustrate your two movements, which would be rock, step, rock, step. This rocking step can start anywhere and end anywhere, such as, if I would instead of going forward, go back I can take one step back, I can rock back onto the foot and replace the weight to the front foot, rock back onto the foot and replace the weight to the front foot. So once again that is rock step, rock and step. You can also do this rocking step with the opposite feet in any direction, so rock and step, rock and step or rock and step, rock and step and these can also be done to the side as in rock, step with the opposite side rock step. Once again, that is the side rocks, rock, step in the opposite direction rock step. Always remember that the rocking step is made up of two motions. Taking a step and then replacing the weight exactly where you left the other foot as in rock and replace. Rock and replace. That is the third secret to the ballroom dance, the rock step.
