" What's up? This is DJ Colione on behalf of expertvillage.com and in this clip I am going to show you how to mix in and out of verses and choruses. So if you watch the beat matching clip, you will understand how to match them and this is the next step so once you have them matched, this is what you are going to try to do with them. So typically a chorus is going to be four 8 counts and the intro on songs vary from song to song. Some will be like half an 8 count so 1, 2, 3, 8 counts so will be four 8 counts. So this particular song is a two 8 count intro and this song like most other has four 8 count chorus. Now what I want to do is I want to try to mix out of this chorus so I don't cut it off. I don't want this chorus to be half way through and all of a sudden I'm switching to a new song. People that are listening they are going to be like what the heck is going on, you just cut off that guy's verse or chorus. In order to do that, you need to understand again how long the intros and the outros are. So with a two 8 count intro on this song before the lyrics start and a four 8 count chorus on this record, I am going to have to start this record half-way through this chorus. So at the end of this chorus, the reverse on this record is just going to be starting. Now it sounds confusing and it kind of is like just math of you figuring out long the intro is to so you know where to start the new song in the chorus of the old song so that you get a smooth transition that at the end of this chorus, this verse starts. That is ideally what you are going to want to do now that is not always the case but to have like a general smooth transition on your night or wherever you are Djing that is going to give you the smoothest results. So we are going to try that. I am going to play this chorus and we are going to start this record half-way through and do a little mix. So let's do this guy up. You want to go right at the start of this record right and this record is playing. So 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; so starting that on the second 8 count. So right at the end of that chorus, you notice that the reverse of that one kicked in. That is going to give you the best results most of the time. There are plenty other of different techniques but this is something that you definitely are going to want to practice and get down solid before you start playing around with different tricks and different sort of things you can do. That is essentially verse chorus verse mixing. "
