More on Mixing the Same Song with DJ Equipment

"Hi. I'm DJ Shy on Expert Village and I'm going to show you an example of how to mix two of the same songs. We want to find where the song starts so we're going to play it. The song starts right about there and the pitch on zero so it's at its normal beats per minute, zero, and the other side is the same song. We're going to make sure they're at the same speed which is zero. We're going to cue this one up as well. We're going to wait until we find the beginning of the song. It's right about there. Now that we have the beginning of the song we're going to try to mix two of the same songs. We're going to start by doing this exercise where we start the songs together at the same time. Now you might get this so this is where your mixing skills come into play. You have to get one sound by slowing or speeding up the other song so I'm going to slow this song by simply putting pressure on the record. I did it too much so I have to speed up the record. I'm speeding up the record by gently pushing forward to speed it up. You do this throughout the whole song to make sure that it's mixing. It's just the exercise of how to mix two of the same songs. The two turntables might get off course for one reason or another so this is a good exercise on how to speed up or slow down so that two of the same songs play at once. Instead of two jumbling beats, you want one sound."
