Video Transcript

"On behalf of Expert Village my name is Eric Jacobson and I'm Donna Roesel and we are here at Dance Manhattan Studios in New York City to show you and teach you West Coast Swing. Hi, we're going to start showing you the rhythm patterns and that's how the dance is danced to music and how we break it down so that it's accessible and that we can learn it easily. Okay, we're going to start with what's a double rhythm pattern, which is just two steps to two beats of music. So, the lady starts with her weight on her left foot and the gentleman starts with his weight on the right foot, and we just do two steps. Walk, walk, okay, and we do our next rhythm pattern, which is three steps to two beats of music. It's generally known as a triple. You may have seen it in other forms of swing or in cha-cha. So, we're gonna do three steps to two beats of music and it is, triple step and triple steps, so the whole rhythm pattern is six counts. Walk, Walk, step three times, step three times."
