"Hi, I'm Dr. Charles Grimes and I am speaking on behalf of Expert Village about preparing for the business end of an audition and preparing for call backs. Another aspect of being ready for the business end of an audition has to deal with having a theatrical resume that you present to the director, the casting agent and the stage managers. This is going to be something that simply indicates the parts that you've played, where you played them and maybe whose done your directing for you. You don't want to put on private performances or performance in a class. This has to be a full blown theater play that you put on your resume. Don't get hung up about the format. Any format will do as long as it is clear and it gets across the basic information of what you did, what part you played and where it took place. This is important. It's one way you are going to be judge as with resumes we like to pad and maybe inflate our accomplishments a little bit. It's a very bad idea to do that in the world of theater. It's very small. There just aren't many people who do what theater people do. So someone's going to know someone if you claim them as a reference. If you said you worked with them and you haven't. Just don't do it. This has gotten many people into problems. So don't succumb to that temptation. And just write it down. Don't worry about the format so much. Anything that gets across the information is perfectly fine. They?re going to judge you, not on the piece of paper in front of them but on what they are seeing. But have that piece of paper. Look over it for typos. Make sure it looks neat and presentable. And then you are ready for your performance to be seen in the best possible light."
