"In this clip we're going to talk about the different kinds and styles of drum sticks. There's all kind of different sizes for different styles of play. And we're also going to show you how to go about purchasing drum sticks. There actually is something to that. This pair of drum sticks, these are a little smaller, and these are probably more like for a Jazz drummer. These are eight A's. When I go to buy a drum stick, I always hit it on the pad to make sure it feels alright. And then I also do what I call the roll test to make sure the stick's not warped like a banana. Because you can tell, you can definitely feel it in your playing. So that seems to be a pretty solid stick, nice roll to it. That's a good one. And like I said, these are eight A's, they're a little bit smaller stick. These are a two B. They're a bigger stick for more like Rock play and metal, stuff like that. So again, with the pad I like to hit, see how it feels. See how the balance is, they don't feel too bad. But let's do the roll test on these and see what we get with these. Ah, it looks like we got a banana here. See how the stick doesn't roll? It's got that little bend in the stick, so that's going to feel funny playing. Yea, that one as well. So I would never purchase a pair of sticks like that. That's why it's important always to do the roll test. Again, different sizes, these are two B's. This is what I use; it's for more pounding metal, heavy hitting stuff. So and then you have the different styles of tips. You got wood tip opposed to nylon. Personal preference, whatever you like. I use the nylon and the wood, but again, it's whatever you like the best. So keep jamming."
