Video Transcript

" Hello! My name is Dwayne Carter and on behalf of expertvillage.com, we are here talking about how to clean a brass instrument. What I am going to do now is begin the preparation by setting up what we will need for the cleaning. First of all, we will need a towel that we are going to lay out on this table. This is for our instrument once it has been cleaned to lay it out for drying. Once this is laid out we can get the items that we will need for the cleaning or Vaseline or valve oil, both for greasing and oiling the instrument after cleaning. A mouthpiece brush, which will be used for both the mouthpiece and the slides and our snake, which is a brush for cleaning the long pipes of the instrument. Also we have to lay out a clean dry cloth for cleaning inside the valves and the exterior of the horn and our polishing clothes. Then we can lay out our instrument, first we will start with the mouthpieces and then we will bring up our horns and lay them out. Now we are ready to clean."
