" Hello! My name is Dwayne Carter and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I am here to talk about cleaning brass instruments and the things you will need in the cleaning process. First of all, you will need a couple to towels, one to lay out your instrument after it has been cleaned and one to place inside the place where you are going to do the cleaning at to protect the instrument. You will need brushes, this is a mouthpiece brush and this is what we call a snake, which opens out into quite a long brush and it is for cleaning the length of the horn. You will need a soft cloth for cleaning and drying the instrument and you will need polishing clothes. The instrument needs to be oiled so we have valve oil and of course you can go to the instrument store and buy expensive grease for greasing your valves or you can go and buy some Vaseline, which is pretty much the same thing, it is an oil based grease. So with these tools you will be able to get your horn functioning properly, cleaning it, laying it out and then having it shined up."
