"Hi, I'm David Clemen on behalf of Expert Village and today we're going to learn the basics of drawing. All right, now that I've given you some basic techniques in drawing and getting used to your pencil, one of the ways I learned how to draw was basic doodling and you know notebooks in school, doodling at home on the kitchen table with just some scrap paper and so forth, but doodling is really a way to get kind of open creatively and you can kind of just think through ideas without trying to draw your masterpiece right out of the box. Doodling is just a way to freestyle draw. So I'll just draw and see what comes out. So I might start with an eye and come in here and a little bit of shade here and then like this and then I might draw a big old ear here like this, and an eyebrow and then his forehead like this and maybe he's got big sideburns and curly hair and this extends here and maybe he has freckles like me, and a little there, but doodling you can do anything you want to the page and also doodling is good because you get used to filling this page because we all, when we first start to draw, we're intimidated by this blank page like it's some big scary monster, but doodling lets you loosen up. You can just draw whatever you want. Maybe he lives near a tree here, draw a tree and the sun is in his head maybe, it doesn't really matter, this is just kind of getting ideas and you get used to just moving the pencil around and seeing how easily it flows and the sun is smiling because it's warm and sunny out even though it's cold here in January. We can add another tree. So from doodling I might get another idea of what I want to draw in the future, but right now there's no pressure on me to draw anything. I'm just actually having fun and that's why I doodle."
