Series Summary

Drawing the human figure suggests the outline of a figure against a background, as opposed to painting which involves filling in the figure that is drawn. When drawing the human form, you must first choose the materials you will need for creating the drawing. Your medium can be dry (graphite, charcoal, pastel, pencil) or wet (marker, pen, ink) or a combination of the two. You will need to choose the appropriate paper, erasers, blending stumps, and sharpeners to accompany you.

"Hi, I am David Clemen on behalf of Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to draw characters. The supply I am going to use today is a large graphite pencil and we are going to use newsprint paper. You can get these at your local art store. These are a couple of dollars and you can also get these holders that are pretty nifty, because once it gets shorter, you can just release the button and release more pencil. As you can see from this drawing here, these are actually characters from the "New York City Subway" that I drew when I was in New York. And I am going to show you different techniques on how to draw characters like this. "
