" Hi, David Kaynor for expertvillage.com. I’ve been working on the bowing for the Gobby-O, also known as Jefferson and Liberty. And I’ve done the pattern bowing of bowing down for two beats, for two 8th notes, and up for the third, and down for the fourth and fifth, and up the sixth; and I used that as a developmental tool rather than a finished performing style. My goal is relentless search for the energetic lift or lilt in jigs. Now I’m going to just do more or less straight forward single bow strokes where most of the 8th notes will get a single stroke. Now I’m going to see if that lilt remains detectable in the tune, even though I’ve abandoned the pattern and then just using single strokes."
