"Hello! I’m Julio Anta of Anta’s Fitness & Self Defense in Miami, Florida. This is one of my instructors David Landrian-Shrewsbury, and on behalf of Expert Village, he will be demonstrating the lion dance drums and percussion. As I mentioned, the drums functions as the heartbeat of the lion. It can produce a number of different kinds of sounds. For example, a rim shot. Playing near the edge of the drum typically produces a higher sound, and playing near the center of the drum, a lower sound. You can even change the position of the drum stick so that if you hit with the side, it produces a completely different sound. There are many different kinds and sizes of drums and they can be played in a lot of different ways. This drum has a higher pitch than this drum does. "
