"I've been heating this up, just getting the head ready from soft carving. Now I'm going to start following the pattern that we followed there and establish the basic thrust of areas of the hair. Side goes from here and then it goes down into the side brows. This just continues, following the shape of the head, allowing gravity to pull it down. Once I've basically established the pattern of hair, and there's usually a whorl back here, once that pattern is established then we'll come back in and refine these later but for the time being all we want to do is get the basic shapes scribed into the head. That will be the part. So from that part of the part, it's going to float this way. So that we now have the establishment of the pattern that the Major has on his hair. The next step will be to refine these shapes into blocks and we'll do that next."
