The last materials that we're going to need are, in this case because we're dealing with a small object, a magnifier of some sort, any kind of magnifier. Sometimes you can get one with a lamp, but this one works fine for my purposes. This has got a three-time magnification on the end of it. Another handy tool to have; it's not necessary, but this will speed up the process; is this handy-dandy Dremel tool and a variety of bits. Before we can really start carving, you need to know what you're going to be carving, so source material- either a model, somebody to work from. In my case, I've got drawings that I've prepared. This is the Major. This is Grolin. The Major is what we will start on today. And because I'm using a human figure, I'd like to have available Charlie. Charlie just helps me recall where the bone structure is, because when we're dealing with a human figure, knowing the bone structure is very, very useful.
