Other tools and materials that are going to be really important to use is a good light source. This is just a quartz light source. For carving, I use a variety of tools. Although, this is the primary one. The end of a paintbrush is really good. See how the shape of that is useful. A file or a rasp. Paintbrushes are also good for brushing off of, excess wax or whatever you're carving, off of the surface. This is a little teeny spoon. Dental tools, like this or this, are useful for details. And needle files, little tiny files of different shapes, are useful as well, in order to do some of the fine carving. A larger file or a rasp, for taking away large areas. And various kinds of sandpaper, for texturing and cutting down things. Because I'm working in a small scale, having a good ruler is ideal. And for smoothing, I'm using OO steel wool.
