" Hi! This is Dave Birkin and on behalf of Expert Village I am going to talk to you about arpeggios on the saxophone. Of course since the saxophone is a single note instrument you cannot play chords per se, you can only play the single notes of the chords that outline the chords and that is called arpeggio. So you know, I mean every kind of chord can also be played as an arpeggio. That is a major, major arpeggio, but use it if you are learning to play a tune, you know, a jazz song or something and you want to be able to hear the chord structure without having a chord instrument and you’ll play those arpeggios so you can get the sound of it in your head, you know, if you just take a song and just play the arpeggios you know a song like I do not know like Misty or something, first chord, and… I just played the first three chords with it… this just gives you an idea how the harmonic flow goes when you play the arpeggios.
