"I'm Chris Knab for Expert Village. All together there is reall what I call 4 fronts and I've told you about two of them so far; artists development and product development combined. Now we go to what I call the exposure areas. They are publicity, promotion and performance and why I call them exposure fronts is via the front that is a campaign for a record label to conduct where they plan out how they are going to get articles written about you in newspapers, interviews with you on blogs, writing about you, etc. You have to think about that. How can I accomplish that myself in this digital age. Maybe on the internet and through some old fashion analog method. How are you going to create a buzz which is what publicity is all about? Another front called promotion means radio airplay and the songs that you grew up listening to and most of them probably heard about the first time on a radio station. So you again have to take the responsibility to learn about what opportunities are available in todays radio world and we don't just have AM/FM radio these days. Remember that there are tons of Internet radio broadcasting stations that are on the Internet and are on the Web. There are also our satellite stations Sirus and XM and all of these are combined may have opportunity for you to explore how to learn to get your songs, your music heard. The last area that needs to be done all labels big and small know about is support for performance front meaning where can I go to play in front of a live audience. When you are starting out, that is pretty tough so there is something you can learn about called a house concert where you can go on the Internet and type in that phrase in Google for example. You can learn an awful lot about how to put on concerts yourself and as you get better at that, you might be able to expand as your network of people attending your show does goes to traditional clubs, fairs and festival and you submit your act to be considered for being booked.
