"This is a prosumer level camera. That means it's got the ability to take manual exposure pictures. But it has a lot more too. This one is called a super zoom camera because it's got more than your basic five x zoom. This one's got eighteen x zoom, which is one of the largest zooms in the whole digital camera array. And basically the equivalent of on a film camera for the zoom would be twenty-eight millimeter all the way to five hundred and fifty. But it's sometimes important to use a long zoom because if you need to, let's say that you've got a bird that you want to take a picture of. Well birds generally don't come too close. So this may be fifty, sixty feet away and you want to get the bird full frame. Super zoom is important for that. And you can even buy extenders that will double and make this eleven hundred millimeters. A normal eye on a normal person is roughly about forty-three millimeters. And the longer the lens, the more it becomes more of a telephoto or a zoom lens like a telescope."
