"Hi, my name is Cody Kimmel. I am the lead singer of the band Eliot Fitzgerald. I am here with expert village to teach you how to write an alternative pop song. As far as the song structure for a pop song is concerned. There are many different ways of doing it. There's no really right or wrong way. Part of the fun in songwriting is the fact developing the structure for your song. However, if you're just starting out and if this is just kind of a way for you to get into songwriting, it's a good thing to kind of look at the basic template that a lot of people use (a lot of songwriters use). Especially within the alternative pop genre. The one we have here is Verse, pre-chorus, chorus, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge, chorus. Now, this isn't just specific to alternative pop. This is a song structure used in a lot of different genres. This is a very common one. Especially the pre chorus is something that is especially prevalent within the alternative pop genre. This is the template that we're going to use. So, if you're just starting out and this is your first time to write a song in the alternative pop genre, I would suggest trying to stick with this for at least the first time until you get the hang of it. Then you can kind of change it up however you'd like. You can take out the pre-chorus if you want. You can take out the bridge. You can add more verses. You can add more choruses. You can add an intro, an outre. You can do a number of different things. If you are just starting out, let's start with this basic outline, because this is a common one you're going to find within this genre."
