" Hi there! My name is Connie Hale. Thanks for joining me at expertvillage.com. We’re working on beginning tap steps. We’re now going to be moving into a ball change. Ball change can be done with a combination of many different things, but let’s just work on the basic ball change right now. Ball change is just what it sounds like. Ball meaning the ball of your foot and change when you’re changing places. So, ball change is just ball change. As simple as that—ball change. So, ball change, ball change, ball change, ball change. Other side we do ball and change. It’s just ball of the foot and step. Ball and step. That’s ball change. Now, ball change like I said, can be added with a bunch of different steps. We can add a shuffle first and then slap on a ball change. So, it’s shu-ffle, ball change, shu-ffle, ball change. Now, notice when I do that ball change, I’m taking that shuffle to the back. So here’s where I want to step with that ball. Ball change. That’s where the weight is transferring. Let’s do the other foot. Shu-ffle, ball change. Let’s face side ways. Shu-ffle, ball change, shu-ffle, ball change. We also worked on flaps. You can add a flap with that ball change. Flap ball change should be done more with a traveling step because you’re going move across the floor with it. If we do a flap ball change it’s simple. F-lap, ball change, f-lap, ball change. Notice how my feet do not change places, but your weight is transferring. F-lap, ball change, f-lap, ball change. So again, shu-ffle ball change. Shu-ffle, step to the back, ball change, shu-ffle, ball change. And flap ball change is when you’re moving in motion. F-lap, ball change, f-lap, ball change. You can also do brush back. Brush back, ball change, brush back, ball change. The second half of a shuffle. That is your basic ball change."
