" Hi! My name is Connie Hale. Thanks for joining me at expertvillage.com. Today, we’re going to go over some basic taps steps for beginning tap dancers. Tapping actually starts with a simple shuffle. It’s as easy as brushing your foot back and forth against the floor. You don’t necessarily need a tap shoe; obviously it does help; any hard shoe can work. Dress shoes work as well for beginners. Anything is comfortable is great to wear, but just not too baggy in the pants or top area. Okay, let’s start with the shuffle. Again, the shuffle is a simple brushing back and forth of your foot. Taking it front with the toe, and brining it back with your toe. You can even picture yourself kicking a piece of paper across the floor. Kicking it front and then kicking it back behind you to do a shuffle. Shu-ffle, shu-ffle. Front and back. Other foot. Shu-ffle, shu-ffle, and step. You can alternate back and forth on your feet with a step in between. Shu-ffle, step, shu-ffle, step, shu-ffle, step, shu-ffle, step. And individually on the side. And switch. And that is your basic shuffle. "
