Video Transcript

"In this clip we are going to talk about tuning the sitar and some of the basics about playing the sitar. I have to say that anybody who plays the sitar or classical Indian music, I suggest strongly that you get a teacher to help show you things, correct things, show you the subtleties of the ornaments and all kinds of wonderful things that you wouldn't necessarily go into on your own or find on your own. Now when you are tuning the sitar these days people either tune their sitar to C sharp (C#) or D, I tune to D. Modern sitarists sound better in the olden days they use to tune to C. We also tune with the help from something called an electric tambora which is over here. It is a little gizmo that you can buy on the Internet or at various stores and it?s a drone."
