Summary: Learn the significance of the fretboard markers on your bass guitar and how to properly use them.

"Hi, my name is Dalton, and we’re going to be exploring some patterns and helpful hints on the bass. The first thing I’d like to talk about are these dots right here. They consist of the 3rd, 5th, 9th, 12th, and so on down the neck of the bass. What’s important about these is they guide us when we’re playing a scale or just trying to remember where we are. And another helpful thing about them is on the 5th fret of each string, they tell us the next string. So on the 5th fret of the E string, is also an A. So these two notes are the same, and so forth. And another important thing is the 12th, is an octave of the open string. So what the dots do is help us remember, oh yeah this is the octave, or oh yeah that’s also an A. You can definitely explore more about the dots and where they go but usually they’re just there to help you remember where you are and remember what you’ve done and try to find patterns in those dots and you can become a great bass player.
