"So, we've learned our first six notes on the B and E strings. We had B, C and D on B. E, F and G. This is great, but how are we going to read these notes? If you were looking at a piece of music how would you recognize them? Well, we will use the treble clef to read these notes. So, if you notice, this treble clef has five lines. On the middle line is where our note B would lie. It signifies the playing of the note B. The note C (the first fret of the B string) will be in the space between that middle line and the fourth line up. The D will be on the fourth line itself. The E (now switching to the E string) will be in that space between the fourth line and the top line. The F will be on that top line and G will be resting above the top line. If you want some methods to remembering how to read these notes, for notes on the lines we can use "Every, Good, Boy, Deserves, Fudge". There's many different versions of this, there's "Every Girl Buys Designer Fashion" and "Even George Bush Drives Fast" I've heard. So, with the spaces, we can use the actual letters that they represent. F, A, C, and E. Spaces spell "FACE". So, try to use these methods when you are trying to read a piece of music so that you can read these notes."
