Video Transcript

"So, we just learned our first three notes on the E string. E, F and G. These are the only three notes for now that we will be worrying about with these strings. This note in between, which we didn't mention is F# or Gb. We'll discuss sharps and flats a little bit later. For now though we're going to learn how to play the B string. The B string is the next string up. We want to move our pick up and make sure it's picking this second string up. You want to pick up at the end so you're not strumming the E string with it. Okay, we're going to play the same pattern on the B string and create new notes. We have D with our first finger playing the first fret of the B string. C and our third finger playing the third fret of the B string (D). B, C, D. Now I want to you to try (after you've played through this a couple times) putting these notes together. B, C, D, E, F, G. Notice that the pattern is the same. The important thing to note is your pick changing from the B string to the E."
