"So, we've learned how to use our right hand. We want to know how to use the picking hand. We'll be using a pick for the demonstration. You may be using your thumb at home. The important thing now is what we are going to do with our left hand. Okay, the first thing we are gonna do is make a C shape with our melody hand. What we are going to want to do is we are going to want to move it underneath the guitar. Our palm should be underneath the neck. Our thumb should be pointing upwards towards the sky (giving it a thumbs up). Our hand should be curved (our fingers curved) over the fret board. In this way, we'll be prepared to play notes (playing notes). We try to keep our thumb here no matter what. Even when we get into positions further up we will try to keep the same structure (playing notes)."
