"On our guitar, on our standard guitar here, we have six strings ranging in pitch from low to high. When they are in tune (in standard tuning) this is the low E string here (the big thick one on top). Next, we have the A string. We have the D string, the G string, the B string and then the high E string. The low E and the high E are good to distinguish against one another. They have both the same note value, but this is two octaves higher (if you know your musical terms). Otherwise, later we'll discuss it. It is good to get used to the names of these strings. EADGBE, using any trick method you have or just a diagram, because we will be learning each as we go along. It's important especially when we get to things such as chords to know which strings I'm talking about."
