"Now we must learn how to properly hold our guitars. So, as you notice on the body of our guitars, there is a curve right here. This is meant to fit into your leg. In a standard holding method, we use our right leg, or if we're left handed, our left leg. We want something to support our feet, because we want this leg up to help hold the guitar. We can either use our left foot or some kind of box, or textbook, or they actually sell foot stands that you can use to elevate your right foot. In the classical method this would be reversed. You would hold it with your hands like this. This is for finger picking styles and you have your elevation on the other. For our purposes we will start learning in the standard method. You may also want to use a strap. This can be connected from two pegs on the guitar. Here across to here. It can be used, if you wish to stand up to play. However, I would recommend while you are learning, to sit down and play. That might help to help hold the guitar for you."
