"Ok. The last open minor chord we're going to learn today will be the D minor. Ok? This one we can relate to a D major but the fingering is significantly different. but we can use the notes of the D major and compare them so remember for our D major we add D, A on the G string, D on the B string, and the F sharp on the high E. The F sharp denotes a major sound. The major in D chord. Well now we want to play an F natural to give us the minor sound. But we can't do that and maintain the same shape so what we have to do is put our second finger to play the A string now. Our third finger plays the D and our first finger plays the first fret of the high E now we have D minor. Open D is still our base note. So you notice the difference there. Now every chord that we will be discussing has major and minor versions of itself, but the difficulty lies in the fact that playing a C major playing a C minor does not lead to a nice fingering unless we do bar chords which will be in further sections. So for now the only minor chords you need to know are E minor A minor and D minor."
