"Okay, finally we're going to apply our step pattern to the G string. We've already applied it to E, A, and D. Now let's look at it on G. Remember, in the open position we had G, A, and D. So, G, A, D, but from B to C is a half step so we can play from the fourth to the fifth fret so to C, whole step to D, seventh fret, whole step to E, ninth fret, half step to F, eat fish, tenth fret, and then, whole step to G. Our octave on the twelfth fret. Okay? Now on the seventh fret of the G string, we had the note D, this is our octave. So we've really noticed a pattern here with all the strings. The seventh fret of the A string is the octave D, the seventh fret of the D string was octave A, and now the seventh fret of the G string is octave of D. So we can notice now that our strings are really separated by the same interval, which is called the fourth. So try playing up and down the G string as well using your whole step and half step pattern. G, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, G, F, E, D, C, B, A, G."
